AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) - Leaders from several prominent Avondale churches and other faith-based representatives are meeting Monday to call for an end to the recent wave of violence in Cincinnati.

Seven homicides have been reported in the city over the past eight days, and 12 have been reported in the month of March.

Several faith-based leaders are holding a press conference Monday afternoon at the Avondale Town Center, calling for an end to violence and solutions to bring peace.

Leaders will share information about:

  • Plans to coordinate community resources to decrease the violence in Avondale, especially over the spring and summer months
  • Utilizing the Avondale Town Center as a "deployment hub" for regular community outreach and prayer groups focused on keeping the peace and cooling down hot spots in the neighborhood
  • Ways for citizens to anonymously and safely share information about homicides and other crimes committed in their neighborhood
  • Resources and support services available to those engaged in a violent lifestyle who truly want to turn their lives around
