ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) - A Vietnam War-era hand grenade with its pin almost pulled out has been found in a dead person's Ohio home but has been safely taken away by a bomb squad.
Police say the grenade was found Wednesday by a mother and son cleaning out a dead relative's home in the small village Arlington Heights.
The son took the grenade to the backyard and called for help. The grenade's pin was about two-thirds of the way out.
Police Sgt. Josh Kelley says it was "a close one."
Two nearby homes were evacuated while the Hamilton County bomb squad removed the grenade.
