CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge closed Wednesday as the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet begins a 5-month painting project.
A concurrent project in the city of Cincinnati will also affect traffic in The Banks area. Theodore Berry Way from Elm St. to the Roebling Bridge area will also be closed due to the project.
Traffic will be routed to the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge. Motorists can also use the Taylor Southgate Bridge in Newport.
The $16.2 million painting project has been in the works since December 2009. The contractor spent three weekends in March preparing the bridge for the paint job.
The bridge was last fully painted in 1980. The project is scheduled to be completed November 15, 2010.
