CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Police have released dash cam video of an Indiana man who was arrested after a police chase in Northern Kentucky.
Jeffrey Weisheit, 34, is accused of killing his fiancee's two children by setting their house on fire early Saturday morning near Evansville, Ind. The children have been identified as Alyssa Lynch, 8, and Caleb Lynch, 5. The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office says they died of smoke inhalation.
Weisheit was spotted in Northern Kentucky later Saturday morning. Deputies in Boone County tried to stop him on Interstate 75 around the 177 mile marker, but he wouldn't stop, and ended up leading officers on a chase down U.S. 25 into Covington.
Police used stop sticks to finally get him to stop. When Weisheit did stop, police say he pulled out a knife and charged at officers. He was tased, and fell down, hitting his head.
He was taken to University Hospital with non life threatening injuries, then taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center on two counts of arson and two counts of murder. According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, Weisheit may have bound the children with duct tape before using an accelerant to set the house on fire. The children's mother was working at the time.
Weisheit was in court Monday, where he waived extradition. He will be sent back to Vanderburgh County.
The Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney's Office says Weisheit will be prosecuted for charges in Northern Kentucky after he is tried in Indiana.
