CINCINNATI (OH) - Testimony continued Wednesday in the murder trial of John Strutz, the Dehli man accused of murdering his wife, then dismembering her body.

The judge heard testimony from forensic experts and detectives who discovered Kristan Strutz's body parts.

Delhi Township Detective William Roberts is not proud that he made a terrible mistake. When investigating the disappearance of Kristan, he joked at how heavy a garbage can was when he moved it from the curb to the garage, back to the curb.

"I commented to an officer, that I had found Kristan Strutz in the garbage can because it was so heavy," said Roberts. "Looking back, in hindsight, a failure on my part not to thoroughly examine and account for the extra weight in that can."

Lt. Joseph Macaluso did follow his instincts when the next day standing right next to John Strutz, he looked in the two garbage cans in front of the house, one had a hack saw and two bottles of bleach.

Macaluso discovered Kristan's torso in the garbage can, and in court, he told the judge what John Strutz was saying.

"There was a white substance I thought to be possibly flesh," said Lt. Joseph Macaluso. "But I wasn't sure. And at that point, he started retching and saying, 'Oh my God, dude, what the hell is that?'"

The day before Strutz was caught on surveillance camera buying four bottles of bleach with this children at a family dollar.
