CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Opening statements were held Thursday in the Mark Pickens triple murder trial.

Pickens is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Noelle Washington, her nine-month old son, Anthony Jones, and a 3-year-old girl she was babysitting, Sharailyn Wright.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. During opening statements, they painted a timeline of the June night when the woman and two children were killed.

Investigators believe Pickens committed the murders because Washington had gone to police reporting that he raped her. It's also believed that Pickens was upset that Washington continued to have a relationship with the father of her baby.

Testimony will continue Monday.
