Flowers to adorn Ky. Capitol for Derby

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Thousands of flowers will adorn Kentucky's state Capitol in preparation for the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby on May 1.

Gov. Steve Beshear's 2010 Derby Celebration will include cannas, begonias and many other plants and flowers on display at the Capitol, the Executive Mansion's formal garden and the Floral Clock.

The Floral Clock, a Kentucky landmark, will present a thoroughbred and jockey racing along the rail created with various shades of flowers.

Kentucky's Floral Clock is one of six in the world that keeps time while suspended above a pool of water.
