WILDER, KY (FOX19) - Police have released dash cam video of a chase over the weekend that started in Wilder and went all over Campbell County.

Joseph Huffman, 41, attempted to flee from police after he hit an officer with his car, dragging him 20 feet.

Huffman tried to get away from police in a pouring rain, spinning out at one point, but recovering and going the wrong way down a street, nearly hitting several cars, including a school bus.

The chase ended at the corner of Third and York in Newport, near the Taylor Southgate Bridge, when officers tased Huffman. He was taken to the hospital and released a short time later.

He was arrested and taken to the Campbell County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Police say Huffman is suspected of being part of a group of people stealing purses from parked cars in shopping centers and health clubs all around Northern Kentucky. The officer was hit when he confronted Huffman.

"At first I thought I broke my hand. They took me to the hospital and had some x-rays and stuff," said the officer, whose identity is not being revealed because he works undercover. "It's just badly bruised. It's not really broke. Had some scrapes and bruises, and I'm a little stiff but good to go."

Police are still looking for Huffman's accomplices.
