2 fatal accidents in Butler County

ROSS TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Police are investigating two separate fatal accidents in Butler County.

A semi truck and a minivan were involved in a crash around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in the 2200 block of Hamilton Cleves Road. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the minivan, Jeremy Stevison, 19, of Ross Township was traveling southbound trying to pass a southbound semi when he struck a northbound semi head-on. The driver of the semi, Duane Weaver, 60, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The semi truck is also leaking fuel. Hamilton-Cleves Road is expected to be shut down until at least 5 p.m. Tuesday evening. Traffic between Hamilton and Ross can be re-routed onto Smith Road, which intersects with SR 128 in St. Clair Township, just south of Hamilton, and again at SR 128 in Ross Township, north of Ross.

Around 10:30 a.m., there was another fatal accident, this one in Madison Township.

Police say an SUV traveling eastbound on SR 122 went left of center in a curve and struck a westbound semi. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was taken to the hospital suffering from chest pains. Names have not been released.

State Route 122 is closed near Elk Creek Road while crews investigate.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
