CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Public Schools' Board of Education has selected Sean T. Parker has its newest board member.

Parker will fill the unexpired term of former board member Michael Flannery, who resigned April 13.

Parker is the manager of Government and Community Relations at the Procter & Gamble Company and a graduate of Walnut Hills High School and Howard University. He will be sworn in as a board member on April 28 at 4 p.m.

"I am a native Cincinnatian and CPS graduate committed to service to the community," Parker noted in his application for consideration for the Board vacancy. "I believe that my collaborative and thoughtful approach to problem solving would fit well with the current Board and would benefit current and future students educated in the district."

Parker, one of 14 applicants for the position, will serve as an appointed Board member through the end of Flannery's term, which concludes on December 31, 2011.  To continue his service, he would be required to stand for election in November of 2011 and be elected by voters to a four-year term beginning in January 2012.
