BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A Florence man has been arrested, accused of stealing several thousand dollars worth of farm equipment.

A Florence Police Officer observed a suspect vehicle on Wednesday and reported it to the Boone County Sheriff's Office. Officers obtained a description of the vehicle and an utility trailer used in a theft on April 17. A John Deere Gator was stolen from Bowen Farm Supply.

At the second storage unit, the deputy unexpectedly med with Stephen McCarty, 46, of Florence. McCarty admitted to his involvement and directed the deputy to a storage facility in Mason, where the Gator was recovered.

McCarty is charged with Theft by unlawful taking and Receiving stolen property (both Class D felonies) and is lodged in the Boone County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond. All of the stolen property is valued at about $40,000.
