COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A Cincinnati man has pled guilty in federal court to having sex with an underage teen.
William Barber, 40, admitted he traveled across state lines to have sex with the victim. He waived his right to be indicted by a federal grand jury.
Barber admitted that in October of 2009, he met the minor and engaged in cell phone text message conversations with the minor. Barber eventually traveled to Boone County and had sex with the minor in Barber's automobile. This automobile will be forfeited to the government because Barber used it to commit the crime.
Barber is currently scheduled to appear for sentencing in United States District Court in Covington, Ky. on August 9, 2010. He faces a maximum prison sentence of 30 years and will be required to register as a sex offender for life. However, any sentence would be imposed by the court after consideration of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing sentences.
