MORROW, OH (FOX19) - After four failed levies since 2008, voters in the Little Miami School district voted down a 5th levy as well as a one percent earnings tax --drowning a district desperately trying to stay afloat.
Nearly 57 percent of voters said no to the property tax levy and 55 percent shot down the earnings tax. Voters across Morrow have been adamant about no new taxes since the first levy failure in November 2008, the last school levy that passed was in 2003.
The district is preparing to enter fiscal emergency in August, and with another levy failure the state takeover could last longer than anticipated.
District officials say there is a possibility they could hold a special election in August, or put another levy on the November ballot.
District officials are holding an emergency meeting Wednesday night at 6 p.m. to discuss the impact on the school district.
