Grand jury indicts man in bar fight death

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A Kenton County grand jury has indicted a man on manslaughter charges after the death of a man outside Dickmann's Sports Bar in Ft. Wright, KY.

The jury recommended a charge of first degree manslaughter for 24-year-old Matthew Kaylor. Kaylor is accused of punching 27-year-old Patrick McGrath outside the bar in March. McGrath died later at the hospital.

Kaylor had been charged with second degree manslaughter, but Kenton County prosecutor Rob Sanders says this new charge did not come as a surprise to him. The new charge carries a 10 to 20 year prison sentence upon conviction.

"This wasn't two people squared off, this wasn't two people in the middle of a fist fight and one of them happened to get seriously injured. This was a person just standing there who got sucker punched," says Sanders.

Kaylor will be in court for arraignment on May 17th.
