Bengals officially announce signing of Jones

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Bengals officially announced Monday that they have signed CB Adam Jones.

Jones began his pro career in 2005 as a first round draft choice of Tennessee. He was the sixth overall selection in the draft. He played for the Titans in 2005 and 2006, then was suspended by the NFL for the 2007 season and traded to Dallas in 2008, playing in nine games. He was waived by the Cowboys and did not play in the NFL last season.

Jones has played in 39 career games with 32 starts. He has 151 tackles with four interceptions and 33 total passes defensed. He has also been a standout kick returner.

Jones attended college at West Virginia with late Bengal wide receiver Chris Henry.

The deal will reportedly be for two years, but the details of the agreement haven't been released.

One of Jones' agents, Tom Hunter, said last week that the Bengals weighed the risk and the potential reward of signing the former first round pick and are convinced Jones is humble and has matured.

Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer told The Dallas Morning News, "I'm not going to let this kid screw up our chemistry and I don't think he will."
