Suspect arrested after chase in Colerain Township

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A Cincinnati man is facing charges after leading police on a chase through Colerain Township.

It all started just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night when Hamilton County Officer assigned to Green Township observed a Oldsmobile Intrigue committing several traffic violations.

The officer initiated a traffic stop on Colerain Avenue near Harry Lee in Colerain Township. The attempted stop resulted in a traffic pursuit that went through Burgundy Court Apartment complex two times.

The chase lasted for 4.2 miles and reached speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. The suspect crashed his vehicle into a parked car and attempted to flee on foot, but officers caught up with him.

Schamell Douglas, 21, is charged with fleeing and eluding, driving under suspension and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was also wanted for eight misdemeanor capias.
