WYOMING, OH (FOX19) - Grief counselors are at Wyoming High School Monday after a senior died in a crash over the weekend.
A short time before 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Wyoming Police were called to the 600 block of Cody Pass for a report of a single car accident.
When officials arrived, they found the driver of the car, Richard Beck, 17, entrapped. Beck had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to University Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
A passenger in the car, Andrew Babcock, 18, was able to walk away from the accident. Police say that Babcock was wearing a seat belt, while Beck was not.
An investigation showed that the vehicle was traveling north on Cody Pass when it went of the roadway at the intersection with Abilene Trail. The vehicle then struck a street sign and struck a tree head on.
Beck was a senior at Wyoming High School. The high school offered grief counseling on Sunday.
"There has been a steady stream of people just coming in to just sit and be," said Principal Aaron Marshall. "If they just want to come in and be in the comfort of each others arms that is what we wanted to provide today."
Grief counseling will also be available at the school throughout the day on Monday to help students deal with the loss of their classmate.
