ROSELAWN, OH (FOX19) - The father of man who was shot dead outside a local nightclub is calling for the business to be shut down.
Dexter Burroughs was killed early Sunday morning outside Club Ritz in Roselawn.
"He was a smart young man I would've never in a million years thought it would happen to him, ever," said Ehling Burroughs, Dexter's father.
Burroughs says he'll camp outside the club until his voice is heard, until the club is shut down.
"I want city council and the city of Cincinnati and the mayor. I want the Cincinnati police chief. We need help out here," said Burroughs. "If I got to sit up here by myself that's what I'm gonna do I will shut this place down."
This isn't the first time Club Ritz has made headlines. On Valentine's Day, three people were shot outside the club. In 2006, rapper T.I. left the club and was involved in a fatal shooting on the highway. And 11 years ago, there was a fatal shooting on New Year's Eve.
Cincinnati police made 25 runs to the club in 2009 and so far this year, they've made six runs.
"When you have a club that caters to this crowd the potential is always there," said city councilman Cecil Thomas.
Club Ritz's liquor license was up for renewal just five weeks ago, and after negotiating with the owner, who came up with new security plans for the club, city council voted to renew the license.
"They're supposed to have a place where they can go and have a good time. Who had a good time that night?" said Burroughs.
