HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - A second teenager accused of beating a baby alpaca to death will be tried as an adult.
Butler County juvenile court judge Kathleen Romans set bond for Nicholas Reynolds, 17, at $40,000.
A mental evaluation had been ordered for Reynolds, but the doctor who performed the evaluation said Reynolds is mature enough to be in adult court. Judge Romans then agreed to send the case to adult court.
Police say Reynolds and another teen, Marcus Miller, beat the baby alpaca to death in February. Both are charged with grand theft, breaking and entering, tampering with evidence, vandalism and cruelty to animals.
Another person, Stacie Mullins, 22, has been indicted for complicity to breaking and entering, complicity to theft, complicity to cruelty to animals and tampering with evidence for driving the teens to the site.
