Lebanon abduction and sexual assault report was false

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) -- Lebanon Police say that a woman who reported that she was abducted and sexually assaulted made up the story.

On May 24, a 21-year-old woman reported that she was laying unconscious in the front yard of her home after being abducted and sexually assaulted a short time after 10:00pm.

An investigation began as police searched the wooded area near her home, collected and gathered physical evidence, interviewed neighbors, followed leads and tips provided by the public and coordinating with other local agencies.

Police interviewed the alleged victim, and on Thursday she admitted that the incident did not happen.

She told police that she had too much stress in her life and left her home at 4:00am on Monday with the intent to fake her disappearance. She took a small pillow case, blue bandana and four zip ties as props. The woman showed detectives where she walked into the woods and hid until she returned home where she was discovered in the front yard.

She told police that no one else knew of the fake abduction and she had no help.

There is no word if any charges will be filed.
