Ky lawmakers seek deal on road plan

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky lawmakers have reconvened for a rare Saturday session in hopes of passing a road plan that would cap a nearly weeklong special session.

House Speaker Greg Stumbo said the outline of a two-year road plan will be presented to rank-and-file House Democrats to gauge support.

Stumbo said lawmakers will do everything they can to finish their work Saturday.

Senate Majority Floor Leader Robert Stivers said there are some proposals on the table as the House and Senate try to reach an accord on the road plan.

Lawmakers have already passed a $17.3 billion, two-year state budget that does not raise taxes and makes cuts across government agencies.
