Ryan Hanigan Placed On 15 Day D.L.

CINCINNATI (AP) - The Cincinnati Reds placed catcher Ryan

on the disabled list with a fractured left thumb and

Hanigan

reinstated infielder Paul Janish from the bereavement list

Saturday.

The Reds also purchased the contract of catcher Corky Miller

from Triple-A Louisville and optioned infielder Drew Sutton to the

Bats. To make room on the 40-man roster for Miller, Chris Dickerson

was transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day list.

Hanigan sustained the injury on the tip of his thumb while

sliding into second base trying to break up a double play in the

fourth inning of Friday's 15-6 win over Houston. Hanigan, who is

hitting .351 and already has set a single-season career high with

17 RBIs, stayed in the game and even doubled in the eighth inning.

Miller hit .287 with four homers and 24 RBIs in 30 games with

the Bats this season.

Janish was placed on the bereavement list Wednesday so he could

attend the funeral of his grandmother in Houston. Sutton, recalled

to replace Janish, played two games and hit a pinch-hit grand-slam

Friday.

Dickerson has been sidelined since April 30 after undergoing

surgery to clean out his right wrist and remove the fractured hook

from the hamate bone of his right hand.
