Indiana court denies continuance for Lewis trial

Dennis Lewis Dennis Lewis

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) -- Dennis Lewis is still on pace for a jury trial in August.

The former Aurora police officer had a pretrial hearing in Dearborn Superior Court I Wednesday. His lawyer was asking for a continuance but that request was denied by Judge Jonathan Cleary.

Lewis has until Monday, July 19 to file a plea agreement, otherwise the case stands to go to trial August 9.

Lewis, 52, is charged with multiple counts of child enticement. The one-time assistant police chief was charged and arrested in April after allegations that he participated in sexual internet chats with when he believed were teenage girls but were in reality undercover officers in Ohio.
