CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A young child had to be rushed to the hospital Thursday night, after nearly drowning in an apartment complex swimming pool.

That child's guardian, Joshua Hughes, told FOX19 outside of Children's Hospital, that the 6-year-old boy is ok, but being held for observation.

Emergency crews were called to the complex in the 700 block of Edgecliff in Covington, KY. When FOX19 got there, they had all cleared out and headed to the hospital.

A witness claimed the child was left unattended at the pool, but the child's guardian said there were several people around, keeping an eye on the child.

The boy had regained consciousness before being loaded into the ambulance.

Another reported near-drowning call happened in Crestview Hills, KY, in the Grandview Summit Apartments, off Napa Valley Drive.

We're told by dispatchers that emergency crews went out between 2:30 and 3 o'clock and discovered a little girl, about four or five years old, who had some kind of trouble in the water.

And that a bystander performed CPR, which got the little girl was up and breathing. She was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital for observation.

Now as pool season is just beginning, dispatchers say they expect to see more of these near drowning calls, but they are definitely preventable.
