Jackson Kinney appointed Covington's first Community Development Director

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -- The city of Covington will appoint its first Community Development Director this month.

Jackson Kinney will serve as Community Development Director, a new position created when the Economic Development and Community Relations Departments consolidated with the Housing Development component of the Housing Department.

The Board of Commissioners will vote on his appointment a the City Commission meeting on June 22 at 7:00pm. He is expected to join to Covington team in July.

Kinney served as Director of Community Development of the city of Oshkosh, Wisconsin for August of 1984 to January of this year, supervising planning, economic development, housing and revitalizing the downtown area.

"Mr. Kinney has a strong and diverse background in community development working for large municipalities. The knowledge, experience, and planning background that he brings to this positions will propel Covington's economic and housing development to new heights," says Larry Klein, City Manager. " The Mayor and the City Commission have worked very hard to assemble a superbly qualified community development team that will lead to even greater job, housing and development opportunities throughout the city," says Klein.

Jackson Kenney is a graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio majoring in Journalism. He has a Masters of Urban Planning for the University of Akron.
