GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) - The economy may be showing signs of life, but it's not enough to resuscitate July 4 fireworks shows in several central Indiana communities.
Greenfield, Fortville and Spencer are among communities that have canceled their annual pyrotechnics displays because they don't have enough money.
Greenfield Chamber of Commerce member Retta Livengood says donations to the chamber are down and there isn't enough money to pay the estimated $8,500 needed to put on the show this year.
The cancellations could be good for fireworks vendors, who expect people to increase spending on home fireworks this year.
