Teen rescued from Great Miami River

By Richard Todd email

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Colerain Township firefighters say a teenager was rescued after he spent more than half an hour in the Great Miami River.

Crews were called to investigate a person in the river yelling for help at 9:21 p.m. Wednesday night.

A little over an hour later, crews located Jacob Young, 18, not far from Dravo Park. The park is located about a half mile south of Blue Rock Road, which is where Young was first spotted.

Young had grabbed a boat dock that juts into the water and rescuers in one of two small boats that were launched from the Harrison Road bridge were able to get to him.

He was taken to University Hospital to be checked out, but is expected to be OK.
