Cincinnati man accused of causing damage to Clermont covered bridge

BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - A Cincinnati man was charged by Clermont County police for causing damage to a historical covered bridge Friday.

Sean Jackson, 52, is charged with causing damage to the Stonelick Williams Corner Covered Bridge that resulted in its closure. He allegedly drove a Forest Green Recycling truck across the bridge weighing 23,250 pounds. The weight limit on the bridge is 6,000 pounds.

The bridge closed in May when it was discovered that several boards hanging from the floor of the structure. Further examination of the bridge by Clermont County Engineers found over a dozen floor beams damaged.

The bridge now remains closed until 2012.

The Stonelick Williams Corner Covered Bridge was built in 1878 and is the only covered bridge in Clermont County. Bridge traffic is being rerouted along US 50, SR 132, and Stonelick Williams Corner Road.
