WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - West Chester Township trustees voted on Tuesday to take the necessary steps to place a $7 million replacement police levy on the November ballot.
The vote was 2-1 in favor of putting the statutory resolution requesting the County Auditor to certify the placement of the replacement levy on the ballot.
The last police levies to be approved by West Chester voters were in May and November of 2001. The new levy would generate $3.8 million more each year for police services. The replacement levy will cost residents $42.18 per $100,000 assessed valuation per year.
The additional money is needed as a result of growth in the community.
