MAYSVILLE, KY (FOX19) -- A 17-year-old boy is in the hospital after jumping off a bridge into the Ohio river at Maysville, Kentucky.
Maysville Police said the teen was in the custody of a child protective service worker and escaped around 2:00pm Friday afternoon. He was picked up by a motorist.
When authorities stop the vehicle on the bridge the teen jumped into the river.
The officer on the scene described the impact as a loud boom, he looked down and the teen resurfaced and was swimming.
He remained in the river for 10 minutes as authorities waited on the banks. A Mason county deputy rode with a jet skier out to rescue the boy.
