BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - The community is welcoming home a local hero who died overseas.

Specialist Jacob Dohrenwend died of non-combat injuries on June 21 while stationed in Balad, Iraq.

Specialist Dohrenwend's body was returned to Lunken Airport Wednesday afternoon.

A processional then traveled to the Craver-Rgiggs Funeral Home. Several hundred community members lined the processional route, welcoming Dohrenwend to his final resting place.

Visitation for Spc. Dohrenwend is set for 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, July 2 in the Great Hall at Milford First United Methodist Church, located at 541 Main Street.

On Saturday, July 3, the community is invited to attend a 10 a.m. Celebration of Life ceremony at the church, also in the Great Hall.  In addition to a slide show and special music, Specialist Dohrenwend's parents, 13-year-old brother, and seven of his friends will take part in the ceremony.
