Police look for bootleg cabbie accused of robbing elderly couple
NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) - Police are looking for a bootleg cab driver accused of robbing an elderly couple.
On Thursday, June 10th at approximately 10:30 a.m., the couple had just finished shopping at the Kroger store in Norwood. That is when a man driving a maroon Pontiac Grand AM with a "bra" covering the front of the vehicle gave them a ride.
He took the couple to a Checksmart in the 3800 block of Montgomery Road, where the elderly female wished to cash a check.
Once in the lot of the Checksmart, the bootleg cab driver produced a semi-automatic handgun and ordered both riders from the vehicle. The driver then left the scene heading north on Montgomery Road with $160.00 in groceries and medications that the elderly couple had purchased from Kroger's.
The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 35-45 years old, bald head, and around 250-300 pounds. The witnesses also indicated that the suspect mumbled when he spoke. Take a look at the surveillance video provided by Norwood Police.
