2-Alarm fire rips through Hartwell apartment complex

HARTWELL, OH (FOX19) --- The Cincinnati Fire Investigation unit is trying to determine the cause of a 2-alarm fire that occurred early Saturday morning.

A short time after 5:30am, Cincinnati Fire crews were called to the Williamsburg Apartments for a report of a fire at the 6200 block of Meyers Drive.

The first responders found heavy fire showing from the first floor of a apartment complex. Because the fire spread to the second floor and adjacent apartments, a second alarm was issued for additional resources.Fire crews were ordered out of the structure and they began a defensive attack.

Damage to the building is estimated to be $300,000 dollars. That is not including the contents of the apartments. Several units were affected and one of them was partially collapsed.

The cause is listed as undetermined. There was a report of one person being unaccounted for, but investigators are still trying to determine the person's whereabouts.

One firefighter received minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Smoke detectors were sounding when fire crews arrived.

Firefighters stayed on scene throughout the day to put out hot spots.
