SOUTHGATE, KY (FOX19) - A Southgate, Ky. neighborhood is reeling after learning one of their neighbors was pinned underneath her car and died right in front of her house.
Melissa Baldridge was found in front of her home around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at 191 Valley View Drive.
Police believe Baldridge's 16-year-old daughter accidentally backed into her mother.
"When we got here, the victim was under the vehicle, the squad members were here, couple other officers were already here and the victim had already passed away by that time," said Highland Heights Southgate Police Authority Assistant Chief Mike Hall.
Police say Baldridge got caught underneath the door on the passenger side of the vehicle.
"The daughter is probably just learning to drive and she probably was not very experienced at all," said Ginny Uehlein, a friend of the Baldridge family.
Melissa Baldridge had lived at 191 Valley View Drive most of her life.
"I knew Melissa when she was a small child because her mother and dad lived in that house," said Uehlein. "She was a very sweet, kind, compassionate lady, very sweet lady...She was always ready to help somebody if she could."
The Accident Reconstruction Team is trying to piece together what happened, but investigators believe it's just a tragic accident.
"Oh, it's so sad," Uehlein said. "I just feel so bad."
Baldridge's 16-year-old daughter is staying with family. No word yet if any charges will be filed against the girl.
