BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) - Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, July 8, 2010 in honor of a Bellevue soldier killed in Afghanistan.
Spc. Russell E. Madden, 29, died June 23 at Charkh district, Konar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his vehicle with rocket fire. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Conn Barracks, Germany.
Funeral services for Madden will be held on July 8 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time at the Divine Mercy Parish in Bellevue, Ky. Burial services will immediately follow at St. Stephen Cemetery in Fort Thomas, Ky.
