Reds Players Show Support For Votto

NEW YORK (AP) - The Cincinnati Reds are wearing their All-Star

support for Joey Votto.

The entire ballclub donned "Vote for Votto" red T-shirts

during batting practice Wednesday before their game against the New

York Mets.

Votto is one of four players competing in an Internet vote that

will determine the final NL roster spot for next week's game in

Anaheim. Padres closer Heath Bell was the fifth finalist, but he

was selected as a replacement for injured Brewers right-hander

Yovani Gallardo.

Votto says he's too shy to be a self-promoter but he likes that

the shirts represent how well he and his team are performing.

The first baseman for the NL Central-leading Reds leads the

league with 21 homers, a .419 on-base percentage and a .595

slugging percentage.
