Goetta Danish from Skirtz & Johnston, Fine Pastries and Chocolates

Goetta Danish

5" x 5" square of puff pastry
1" x 1" x 5" piece of Goetta from Eckerlin's Meats of Findlay Market
2 Tablespoons of Sweetened Cream Cheese
2 Teaspoons of Apricot Preserves
Egg Wash
Icing Drizzle
Cream Cheese Filling
8 ounce package of Cream Cheese
1/2 cup of Powdered Sugar or to taste
1 Tablespoon Milk
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract or to taste
Mix all of the ingredients together to soften.

Lay out puff pastry square.
Lay the Goetta diagonally across the center of the puff pastry.
Place 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese filling along one side of the Goetta.
Place 2 teaspoons of apricot preserves along other side of Goetta.
Lightly brush egg on exposed puff pastry and gently fold corners overlapping the Goetta.
Brush egg wash on remaining exposed puff pastry.
Bake in a 400 degree oven for 10-12 minutes until puff pastry has puffed and is golden.  Cool
Make icing drizzle while pastry is cooling.

Icing Drizzle
1 cup of Powdered Sugar
Drop of Vanilla
Add milk to powdered sugar a teaspoon at a time until icing has a medium thick consistency.  Add vanilla.
Drizzle icing over pastry when cool and enjoy!
