Accident results in death of landscaper in Southgate

SOUTHGATE, KY (FOX19) - A landscaper is dead after the tree he was trimming fell and crushed him.

Brian Jackson, 32, was working at a house in the 100 block of Blossom Lane in Southgate on Monday afternoon when the accident occurred.

Emergency officials say Jackson was pulling the tree towards him when the rope attached snapped.

The Campbell County Coroner's Offices says Jackson died of the trauma.

Jackson's family said he had been cutting trees in that area for the last two days.

"He helped me for five or ten years before he started on his own," said his father, Harold. "He has been on his own for about five years. He's a real likable person a good kid, and none of us is perfect and he had a lot to learn. I wish him all the best and I hope he goes to heaven."

The Jackson family hopes someone will learn from this deadly lesson - a lesson they wish never had to happen.

"That's your life when you get up there in those trees, that's your life," said his brother, Anthony. "You don't just let anyone rope those limps or pull those trees over and in a situation where they don't know what they're doing."
