COLERAIN, OH (FOX19) - A Fairfield woman has been charged after police said she was on drugs when she caused a crash that led to a man's leg having to be amputated.

Amber Schwartz, 23, is charged with one count of aggravated vehicular assault.

The crash occurred on May 6 on Old Colerain Road. Police say Schwartz failed to maintain her vehicle near the Day Road intersection and struck a motorcycle driven by Scott Lane.

As a result of the crash, Lane's leg had to be amputated below the knee.

Schwartz was taken to Sheriff's Patrol, where a urine sample was obtained and found that Schwartz tested positive for Morphine and Oxymorphone, both Schedule II controlled substances. Police say she was also operating her vehicle under suspension.

She was arraigned Wednesday morning and her bond was set at $10,000.
