VERONA, KY (FOX19) - Kentucky State Police is investigating an accident where a teen driver struck a child on Ky. 16.
A short time before 6 p.m., Kentucky State Troopers responded to a 911 call from a driver who struck a young girl at the 8600 block of KY Highway 16 in Gallatin County.
According to police, the 17-year-old female driver did not see the girl because of a hill and curve in the roadway. The 10-year-old girl that was hit was reportedly going to the mailbox.
The victim was transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital by Air Care, where she was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Destiny Turner.
Police say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and no criminal charges will be filed.
