Cincinnati (FOX19) - Shaking off their losing streak before the All-Star Game, the Cincinnati Reds won their second straight game over the Colorado Rockies with an easy 8 to 1 win behind the pitching of Endinson Volquez.
Volquez pitched 6 innings of three-hit baseball, with just one base on balls. Volquez threw 96 pitches, reinforcing the appearance that his Tommy John surgery has been successful.
Drew Stubbs provided enough offense to win the game all by himself, with two home runs, resulting in three runs batted in. Brandon Phillips also had enough offense to win it, with a three-run home run of his own, as did Jonny Gomes, whose 2-run shot rounded out the Reds' scoring.
The game sold out tonight, most likely on the combined strength of the Reds' first place record and a Chris Sabo bobblehead promotion.
