Fairfield woman dies in jet ski accident on Ohio River

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - One woman is dead after a jet ski collision on the Ohio River.

Police said two jet skis collided on the Ohio River at around 5 p.m. Monday afternoon. The collision happened near the Purple People Bridge and the Taylor Southgate Bridge.

Two women were involved in the crash. The victim has been identified as Laura Russell, 29, of Fairfield. Investigators say the other woman involved is Nicole Jackson, 31, of Cincinnati.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife continues to investigate the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but an autopsy will be performed on Tuesday.

The two women involved did not know each other. The accident happened when Russell made an abrupt turn in front of Jackson.

The two were pulled on board a pontoon boat by a passing boater, who attempted CPR on Russell, but she had already passed away.

"We tried everything. We did CPR. We did everything," said witness Rick Pollard. "We ran her from one side to the next, but she had some pretty severe wounds. There was just no chance."
