WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Lakota Local Schools reached a tentative agreement with the Lakota Education Association on Tuesday that will allow teachers to stay in Lakota. The meeting with the executive board of the Lakota Board of Education also passed a motion to place a levy on the November ballot.
The details of the agreement with the Lakota Education Association are still under wraps. The LEA still has to vote on the agreement.
The levy placed on the November ballot was written to offset a $10 million budget offset. If passed, taxes on a $100,000 home would increase to $231. The vote Tuesday was the second of two that was needed to include the levy on the ballot.
Voters rejected a tax levy in May, prompting the district to cut almost $6 million, including 50 teaching positions.
