CINCINNATI (FOX 19) -- We've seen vigils across the city, families remembering a loved-one and pleading for help in solving their murder.
July 23 marks one year since 16 year-old Marcus Hooten was gunned down on the street in South Cumminsville.
Hooten's murder is one of 20 unsolved murders in the city in 2009. This year, 15 homicides are unsolved.
Authorities said they do not considered the unsolved murders as cold cases and Hooten's death is an open investigation.
His family took to the streets to ask for answers.
Hooten was shot in the back while walking to St. Pius Church, where he worked. At the time of the crime, neighbors said if there were witnesses to the shooting, they were afraid to come forward.
The family hopes this vigil replaces fear with courage.
