CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Several local Catholic churches are closing after serving people in their community for decades.
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati ordered St. Agnes in Bond Hill, St. Mark in Evanston, St. Martin de Porres in Lincoln Heights and St. Andrew in Avondale to merge.
The Archdiocese says decreasing membership, fewer priests and lack of resources to make repairs to the churches are reasons why the churches are closing.
The members from the four parishes are invited to join the new church called The Church of the Resurrection at the former site of St. Agnes on California Avenue in Bond Hill.
The first mass of the new church will be on August 1, 2010.
St. Mark and St. Martin de Porres held their last services on Sunday, July 24. St. Andrews in Avondale closed Sunday, July 18.
