CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A woman who caused a deadly crash on Interstate 74 earlier this year has been sentenced.
Michelle Knapp will spend the next eight years behind bars for vehicular homicide.
Knapp had been drinking the night she rear-ended a car driven by Mary Kraus, 60, of Harrison. Kraus and her backseat passenger, Nicole Riddle, 27, both died in the crash.
"You broke the law. You cost two people their lives," Judge Ethna Cooper told Knapp. "And that's more than a bad decision."
Prior to handing down the sentence, Judge Cooper heard emotional testimony from family members of the victims.
"One day we're sad, one day we're angry," said Nicole's sister. "Because of this unnecessary incident, my sister can't live her life."
The crash happened Feb. 4 in Green Township, near the Northbend Road exit on I-74.
