SPRINGDALE (FOX 19)-- Starting Friday Aug. 6 Tri-county Mall is implementing a teen escort policy. After 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays people 17 and younger must be with an adult 21 or over.
During the restricted times, shoppers need to have a photo ID with a birth date listed and show this ID if mall security asks to prove your age.
Mall general manager, Mike Lyons, says the change is to promote a more family-friendly environment and to discourage teens from just hanging out in the halls and common areas.
"This policy will eliminate the large groups of unsupervised teens on Friday and Saturday that you find not just in Tri-county mall, but in pretty much every mall in America," Lyons said.
