CINCINNATI (FOX19) - On a day where hits were hard to come by, Edinson Volquez held the Atlanta Braves to one run, while Brandon Phillips led the offense. The results: a Cincinnati 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Volquez gave up just three hits and one run in his five innings against the Braves, and a squad of Reds' relievers, one for each of the last four innings, did even better, giving up just a single hit between them.
Brandon Phillips continued a recent history producing runs for Reds' victories. He got just one hit, but made it count, getting a triple that scored Reds' catch Ramon Hernandez.
Then, with Orlando Cabrera at the plate, Phillips scored the second of the Reds' two runs on an error by Braves' shortstop Alex Gonzalez.
