Wednesday Afternoon Update -- HEAT INDEX HAS PASSED THE 100° MARK -- TAKE IT EASY. -- SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS THIS AFTERNOON. A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued for the Tri-State for today and a SMOG ALERT is in effect for our urban city centers. Our daytime high will reach 96° with a risk of thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening. Another chance of storms Thursday due to a front moving through the area.  This will bring in cooler and lower humidity as we approach the weekend. The relief will be short lived as we will be right back in the 90's early next week. FOX19 Chief Meteorologist Steve Horstmeyer
