CINCINNATI (AP) - A Cincinnati woman who authorities say was run over by a police cruiser in a park will be laid to rest, and her family is encouraging the public to attend the services.

The funeral for 48-year-old Joann Burton is scheduled for Friday morning at New Prospect Baptist Church in Over-the-Rhine.

Authorities say veteran officer Marty Polk drove over Burton in Washington Park last week while she was lying under some blankets on the grass. She died shortly after arriving at a hospital.

Polk has been placed on paid leave while the State Highway Patrol investigates. The head of Cincinnati's police union says Polk is devastated over what happened. Troopers say their findings could be turned over to prosecutors as early as Monday.
